At Adaptive Fit Occupational Therapy, we believe that true well-being comes from finding the right balance between the person, their everyday environments, and the meaningful occupations that fill their lives. We work across the lifespan to support individuals at every stage, from infants and toddlers through to adulthood.
Our goal is never to "fix the person," but rather to overcome barriers and create practical, adaptive solutions—empowering you to participate fully in the activities that matter most to you.
About us
Adaptive Fit Occupational Therapy is owned and directed by Shannyn, an occupational therapist with 10+ years of experience working with infants, toddlers, young children, families, and adults in the community.
Shannyn has supported children and adults with a range of conditions including developmental delay, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Acquired Brain Injury, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Duchene Muscular Dystrophy, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, intellectual impairment, chromosomal or genetic conditions, and those with multiple complex disabilities.Â
Shannyn has completed additional training in the following therapy approaches and practice areas:

Switch access for adaptive communication and access to play
Functional hand use in hemiplegia and cerebral palsy

Location
We currently service the south-west Brisbane and Ipswich areas.
We provide mobile therapy in the environments most important to you, including homes, daycares, schools, and the wider community.
Availability
Adaptive Fit Occupational Therapy currently provides services on Fridays only.
Funding
Adaptive Fit Occupational Therapy provides services to:
Privately funded clients
NDIS self-managed
NDIS plan-managed participants
Clients with private health
Medicare referrals
Please note: Clients are responsible for claiming their own rebates directly through Medicare and private health insurance. Adaptive Fit Occupational Therapy is not currently registered to provide services through DVA, WorkCover, NIISQ, NDIA-registered (agency-managed) schemes, or other unlisted funding bodies.
Privacy & Confidentiality
At Adaptive Fit Occupational Therapy, we protect your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 and AHPRA guidelines.
What We Collect: Only the personal and health information necessary to provide safe, tailored care.
How We Use It: Strictly for clinical service delivery and care coordination. We never sell your data and only share it with your explicit consent or where required by law.
Security: All records and intake details are stored securely using encrypted, industry-standard systems.
Your Rights: You can request access to or correction of your personal records at any time.
